“Discover proven marketing strategies to boost your men's clothing company's growth. From audits to special projects, explore 9 key tactics for success."

Marketing

Is your men's clothing company struggling or are you out of new and fresh ideas to market it?

I have been there! I started my men's bespoke clothing company in 2015. During that time I have gone through start-up pain, cyclical slowdowns, a recession and a pandemic. Every time we found a way to bounce back and grow.

Whether you own a bespoke clothing company, custom or made-to-measure clothing company, streetwear or a dropshipping company, many of these marketing growth tactics will grow your revenue.

We will cover 8 different strategies that we cover in our Marketing Implementation Plans (MIP). In each strategy, we have multiple sub-strategies that are custom-tailored to your business.

MARKETING STRATEGY #1: AUDIT

The audit section of our MIP is where we review:

  • Your company including your website, socials and any public facing content.

  • Content to re-purpose.

  • Your competitors - What are they up to, what is working for them, what isn't and any gaps that could be filled.

  • Barriers to entry - What is holding back potential clients from purchasing.

When it comes to your men's clothing company you should be reviewing what your competitors are selling. Are there certain colors, fabrics or patterns selling out? Do they have a popular service?

You can also view the ads they are running on Facebook by visiting Meta's ad library. You may decide to not take any ideas but at the very least you will have an idea of trends which will help you advise your clients.

MARKETING STRATEGY #2: SETUP

In the setup portion of our MIP we review your:

  • Google Analytics, Tag Manager & Search Console

  • Social media pixels & audiences (if you don't know what that is, email us ASAP it is crucial to running ads in the future)

  • CRM

  • SEO setup

Many businesses do not have these steps set up so start with your Google Analytics. Make sure you have set up the code properly on your website. It will be your best source to review how customers are finding you.

MARKETING STRATEGY #3: MONTHLY THEME

Marketing gets really challenging when you are flying by the seat of your pants every day. If you don't have a core theme every month, your social posts, newsletter, ads...they all become sporadic and it takes longer to discover something to post. Keeping a clear message and brand continuity will be next to impossible.

In your custom Marketing Implementation Plan, we give you 6 months worth of themes to work around. Take some time today to create your 6-month plan.

Here are a few suggestions:

  • How to wear product x (Focus on products you sell and show ways to style it with your other products or every day clothing)

  • Men's style tips - Give quick tips that guys can implement immediately, we found this to be a hit every single time.

  • Color combos for the Fall - Launch this one in September and help guys get prepared for the coming months.

  • What the top players in the NBA are wearing this season - Pick a relevant sport and share posts of top NBA stars in their outfits. Share why you love them and why you don't.

MARKETING STRATEGY #4: DAY-TO-DAY MARKETING

This is one of the biggest topics in the 15-minute calls we have with potential clients. If you center this around your monthly themes, it gets much easier.

Here are a few ways to maximize your day-to-day marketing:

  • Identify your target platforms - Instagram from street style, LinkedIn for business wear, YouTube for potential online clients

  • Start engaging and adding potential clients based on your target market or client avatars - Eg. Business professional men between 35-50 within 20 miles of your location for men's clothing stores with a brick and mortar location.

  • Write blog posts and add keywords to it. For us, men's clothing stores are looking to grow their revenue or grow their business. Be targeted and don't overreach.

  • Networking events - These are great but I found a lot more success at industry specific events like Realtor conferences, wedding shows or C-suite events/groups.

MARKETING STRATEGY #5: AUTOMATION

This has been the biggest game changer for my business which is why I added it to our MIP. In the MIP we talk about things like:

  • Drip campaigns - Prepping and qualifying clients through automated emails after they book an appointment or purchase.

  • Chatbot - Give potential clients an easy way to ask questions without an obligation or phone call.

  • AI software

Here is one that is extremely specific to men's clothing store owners. Identify tasks you are doing that are killing your time. For me, it was these two:

  • Data entry - I had so many order forms to prep and send-off as well as meeting rooms to book so I hired an EA to take these tasks off my plate.

  • Stop travelling - I spent over 5 hours on the road for one client between the initial appointment and fitting. I decided to hunker down by using meeting rooms rather than travelling to clients. I may have lost clients but by implementing the strategies from our own MIP, my revenue grew and I was able to raise my prices. I saved money on gas, saved time and created a more predictable schedule.

MARKETING STRATEGY #6: LOW-HANGING FRUIT

Every business owner's favorite revenue-generating action is the low-hanging fruit. Here are a few ideas from our MIP:

  • Segment your current client list and send emails of products that fit perfectly or are the next logical step with what they already have.

    • Have they bought a red hoody? A white t-shirt looks great underneath.

    • Have they bought a navy suit? A charcoal suit is the next logical step.

  • Joint ventures

    • I added a large amount to our revenue by working with local tailors. If they send us a client we send them right back for alterations, pressing and drycleaning.

    • If you sell golf hats, partner with a company that sells golf shoes or custom grips.

  • Upsell

    • Selling a $1,000 suit? Always recommend a white pocket square. I have added 5 figures to my business by having 90% of clients say yes to a white pocket square.

    • Think of what the logical upsell is that people will say yes to. It's like candy at a grocery check-out. How many people justify buying it because they spent over $200 on groceries, what is an extra $1.50?

MARKETING STRATEGY #7: VIDEOS

Utilizing video for your social media and website works wonders! You answer the questions they have before they know to ask them. Here are a few I have utilized:

  • Explainer video on the process - What should they expect?

  • About us - People do care and it brings trust.

  • Customer testimonials or User-Generated Content (UGC) - If your clients are willing, have them send a video in your clothing.

MARKETING STRATEGY #8:
PERSONAL/CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Running a business is hard, you need to have personal AND career development to keep your head up. The biggest tactic that works for me is my morning routine. I get my head right before anything lets it go wrong.

Here is my morning routine:

  • Wake up at 6:50 before my wife and kids

  • Read - For me it is only and always my Bible, but for you it could be something that calms you down, give you a fresh idea or motivates you for a strong start.

  • Meditate/pray

  • Review my day and start moving - Pacing around my living room gets my brain going and readies my brain and body for the day.

MARKETING STRATEGY #9: SPECIAL PROJECTS

I started my business to sell subscriptions online. It has been in my head forever and I finally started implementing it. On our MIP, we have the complete rollout built. It is a long game starting with list-building, establishing authority and building the proper funnels.

What special project do you need to add to your list?

CONCLUSION:

Whether you are a new company or have been in business for a long-time, these 9 strategies will not only get you going but be a launching pad for revenue growth in your men's clothing company. If you need more ideas or want us to complete a full build-out for you, book your spot today before they fill up!
